TEA PARTY CONGRESSMAN AIMS TO GROUND COMPETITION IN THE SPACE INDUSTRY

Houston (Aug.9.2014): Congressman John Culberson continues to fail Houston by attempting to eliminate competition in the space industry. James Cargas is running to replace Culberson so that Texas and the expanding space industry will have a strong advocate in congress.

A senior assistant to Culberson declared to the FAA “paring down the number of competitors will help things along greatly because the funding won’t be split.” In essence, he is seeking to limit competition within the space industry. These views are a polar opposite from statements made in a previous election where he stated “he was considering introducing legislation to overhaul the space agency as well as expose it to more competition from the private sector.” Staying true to American values, James Cargas believes that all businesses should compete on a level playing field.

SpaceX a private space exploration company, plans to build the world’s first commercial launch facility near Brownsville, Texas. NASA is excited about the partnership with SpaceX, to fulfill their vision of human flight exploration. The relocation of SpaceX to Texas is a rare chance for Houston to market itself for jobs in manufacturing and research. James Cargas sees the SpaceX facility as an advantage to Houstonians because it would create a demand for high tech jobs, boosts tourism and benefit students. Culberson missed the opportunity to market Houston as a manufacturing and technology hub to boost jobs in the area.

John Culberson consistently demonstrates an inability and unwillingness to push Houston in a progressive direction, whether in the form of missed opportunities or limiting competition.

Houston Deserves Better!

James Cargas offers substantial public service experience. He has served in the U.S. House of Representatives as a deputy press secretary, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as a law clerk, Clinton White House as an aide, and U.S. Department of Energy under Secretary Bill Richardson as a political appointee. He is currently the Senior Assistant City Attorney for Energy for the City of Houston. James and his wife, Dr. Dorina Papageorgiou, a neuroscientist are members of the Greek Orthodox Annunciation Cathedral.

Culberson Throws Birthday Bash While Neglecting Constituents

Houston (Aug.26.2014): Congressman John Culberson continues to fail Houston by taking a break from his elected responsibilities. James Cargas is running to replace Culberson so that Texans can have a strong voice that represents them in congress.

The US Congress is on August recess and time away from D.C usually means representatives will rally with their constituents. John Culberson has opted out of meeting with the people that elected him. Instead of fulfilling his responsibilities, Culberson decided to throw a birthday bash that his invitees had to pay to attend.

James Cargas realizes that the people of Houston deserve to meet with their elected representatives and will make that a number one priority as congressman. Culberson has failed to grab this opportune time to meet and listen to those who employed him, the people of Houston. Summer break in congress does not mean the relinquishing of your responsibilities but taking the lead on creating solutions on problems afflicting your residents.

Houstonians are frustrated with the tired and regressive politics that Culberson has spearheaded and demand change. James Cargas believes we need to be speaking with constituents about job creation, building more infrastructure, championing more research in the energy and technology sectors and improving education.

John Culberson consistently demonstrates an inability and unwillingness to push Houston in a progressive direction, whether in the form of missed opportunities or backward policies.
